Odoo in Syria: a practical guide

When an open-source ERP base is the right call, what implementation really involves, and the local details that matter — Arabic, currency, hosting.

Odoo is an open-source ERP with modules for sales, inventory, accounting, manufacturing, HR, CRM and more. It is a strong starting point when your processes are close to standard — you customise rather than build from zero.

Community vs Enterprise

  • Community is free and open-source. It covers a lot, and for many SMEs it is enough, especially with custom modules on top.
  • Enterprise is a paid subscription that adds features (better accounting, studio tools, some apps) and official support.

The right choice depends on which specific features you need — not on "paid must be better". We will map your requirements to modules and tell you where Community falls short for you.

What implementation actually involves

Installing Odoo takes an afternoon. Making it fit your business is the project:

  • Configuration — chart of accounts, taxes, product categories, warehouses, user roles, approval flows.
  • Data migration — products, customers, suppliers, opening balances.
  • Custom modules — the parts of your workflow Odoo does not do out of the box.
  • Reports and printed documents — invoices, quotations, delivery notes in your format.
  • Training — real tasks, not a feature tour.

The local details that matter

  • Arabic and RTL — the interface, and just as importantly the printed PDFs. Odoo supports Arabic but the templates often need work to look right.
  • Local currency handling — rounding, display, multi-currency if you deal in more than one.
  • Hosting — on a server we manage, or on your own infrastructure. We keep it updated and backed up.

Custom vs Odoo — the honest version

If your operation is unusual, or the way you work is your competitive edge, a custom build may serve you better than bending Odoo. If your processes are fairly standard and you want breadth quickly, Odoo is hard to beat on value. We do both and will recommend the one that actually fits.
